Trigrad gorge
This impressive gorge, with its 250 m high walls, is one of the largest and most attractive karst formations in Bulgaria and serves as an inviting attraction for rock climbers. This region is home to more than 150 caves. The most famous of which is the precipitous Devil's throat cave.
Devil's Throat cave
One of the phenomena in the Trigrad Gorge in the Rhodopes is the Devil's Throat abyss cave, formed as a result of the collapse of earth layers. The cave is 1,3 km to the North of the village of Trigrad. The temperature inside is 8oC.
Along an artificially dug tunnel (150m), one can reach an impressive cave hall that could accommodate the Alexander Nevski Cathedral in Sofia. A winding steep cement staircase leads from the hall to the natural entrance of the cave. While climbing, the visitor can see one of the highest underground waterfalls in Europe (42m).
Haramiiska Cave
Haramiiska cave is located near to the Devil's Throat cave (near to Trigrad). The cave is not provided with all utilities, but it is used as cave tourism, because of the archaeological findings in it. You can reach to the "Haramiyska" cave only with special equipment, provided by CC "Silivriak". The lovers of the extreme sports can reach to the foot of the cave, but only under the leadership of the qualified guides and cave instructors. After long and steep climbing one can reach to cave's entrance where were found traces from human presence. After the shoving through the cave labyrinth, there is a 43 meters letting down to the center of the underground cavern, 180 meters long.
